Alessandra Ambrosio, Brooklyn Decker and Crystal Renn in Bikinis
Guess what? Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, Sports Illustrated hottie Brooklyn Decker and the most popular plus-size model Crystal Renn will share the cover of Glamour’s June issue!
And we can’t know for sure if they’re gonna lack clothes in the final photo, but the 3 beauties posed together in St. Barths this week wearing nothing but bikinis!
Glamour Magazine promised last year (after the overwhelming response they got for including naked Lizzie Miller’s tummy in the magazine) to feature women of different shapes and sizes – and it looks like they’re doing a pretty good job. Unlike Love’s Magazine (failed) initiative to feature models of different sizes, these 3 girls right here are actually different.
Remember the old Cracker Jack snacks? You know, the ones with the "toy surprise inside"? How awesome were they? You had a popcorn-slash-peanut treat and hidden treasure, all in one box. I mean sure, you'd usually end up with some lame trinket like a plastic figurine or stick-on tattoo. But every once in a while, you'd get something cool and semi-useful like a whistle, scissors, or magnifying glass (sun-toasted ants, anyone?).
Model searches are like Cracker Jacks. You'll get girls of all ethnicities, heights and sizes and you really never know what to expect. And like sifting through a caramel-y box in search of your prize, it's the anticipation of the unknown that makes it exciting . . . which is exactly what happened at our cover casting call at SpoCom. Fifty-plus models came through and second to last was this beauty before you: Bahara Golestani.
Residing in Scottsdale, AZ, by way of Moscow, Russia, this Persian princess has been making her way through the HIN scene. With music videos under her belt, and a role in an upcoming movie starring Luke Wilson, you can bet you're going to be seeing much more of Miss Bahara.
I think the first time I ever saw you was on our website. You put your pics on our forums, making one of the most viewed posts, ever. What made you decide to do it?
I love Import Tuner and I thought to myself, 'you never know, maybe they will decide to shoot you for the cover and give you a call.' But then I didn't hear from you guys! [laughs] But hey, here I am, two years later-thanks to you!
And thanks to SpoCom. How did you get into modeling?
Honestly, modeling found me. I never had the confidence to model, so I never really gave it much thought. I actually wanted to be an actress, and growing up, I performed in a lot of school plays. When I was 16, I met a photographer who said that I had a lot of potential. I had my first photoshoot and it was so much fun. From there, modeling just sort of took off and I never stopped.
How did the import scene come about?
I've always loved import cars so I'd just go to car shows. I was at an HIN show in Arizona, and one of the model coordinators offered me a position as one of the HIN tour models. I was so excited! I got to travel with the crew to almost every city in the U.S. and I even took the title of Miss HIN North Carolina!
What's your favorite part of a car show?
I've been to so many shows and they're all fun! What is there not to like-hot cars and hot models!
Have you done any modeling outside of our scene?
I've done lots of fun stuff! I was in the Gym Class Heroes music video Cookie Jar and I'm doing runway for Ed Hardy, to name a few. I'm also in an upcoming film starring Luke Wilson.
You have an uber-exotic look, what ethnicity are you?
I'm 100-percent Persian, baby!
I have a burning Persian-related question: flying carpets, where the hell did that come from?
You know, I'm not even sure . . . but I don't even think that's Persian. That's more Arabic, like Aladdin.
OK, another Persian-related question: I love hummus. Especially with pita bread. What the hell is it made out of?
Yummy! I love that stuff too, but I honestly don't know what it's made of. Maybe cream cheese? Butter? Or yogurt? Hmm, you got me thinking now . . .
Can you cook?
Hell yeah!
Like what?
Eggs. I love eggs!
Dude. Eggs is so not cooking. Omelets maybe. Did you grow up in the States?
Kind of, I've lived here for the past 10 years. I grew up in Moscow, Russia before.
What did your parents do over in Russia and why did they decide to move here to the good ol' US of A?
My dad is a musician and my mom was an actress. One of the main reasons for the move was because my mom was sick. She needed heart surgery so we moved to the U.S.
Can you speak Russian?
Yep.
Funny, that's the same one I use in the U.S. Glad to see globalization has permeated the dating scene. How awkward was it growing up in Arizona as a Persian F.O.B. that could only speak Russian?
I had a really hard time at first because I didn't speak any English, and since I didn't know anyone, it took some time to make friends. But I eventually did and that's what America is all about. They accept you and treat you equally no matter what color you are!
Suggested summer reading: Uncle Tom's Cabin. What was your worst lost in translation moment?
Every one of them! It sucks when you can't communicate with people!
That's what body language is for! What kind of girl were you in high school?
I was in band. I played the Violin and was in theater.
Are band geeks hot?
They can be!
Besides a big trombone, what do you look for in a guy?
Someone who's loyal, honest, caring, makes me feel special and can appreciate me. A guy also has to take good care of himself. And I hate liars!
What's a game killer?
Don't talk too much about yourself. Confidence is very important and when someone doesn't have it, it's a turn-off. I think everyone is gorgeous in their own way so there shouldn't be a reason not to be confident.
Is what a dude drives important?
No, not to me.
Don't lie!
[laughs] Well, don't get me wrong, I love a nice car, but a car is just a car. It comes and goes just like money and all the other material things. It's the quality of the person that matters to me.
What do you drive?
I have a BMW 525i.
[laughs] That's why you don't care about a nice ride-you have your own! Another Persian-related question: Why do 85-percent of the Persian population seemingly all drive Bimmers?
I guess we all have similar taste in cars!
Something in the hummus? [laughs] What type of music would we find you rocking out to in your car?
I love hip-hop, R&B and pop so I have J. Holiday, Beyonce, and 2Pac. But I also like to mix it up and I listen to the radio all the time.
Have any hobbies?
I'm a very athletic person so I love to work out. I like hiking, riding my bike, dancing and singing in the shower! [laughs] But when I'm hanging out, my favorite thing to do is order a pizza and watch a basketball or football game. I love sports and I never miss a game during the season.
So tell us something that you've never told anyone...
I sleep naked. Shhh, don't tell.
I promise. Not a word. Lastly, let's end with one last Persian-related question: Genie in a bottle gives you three wishes, what would they be?
Well now that I have my Import Tuner cover: the cover of Maxim, a flying carpet, and to find out what's in hummus.

Do you want me to sit up on the ledge for the next shot?" I barely make out Marie Kim's question. We're 44 stories high in Midtown Manhattan with stunning views of the Hudson River on one side and the iconic New York skyline on the other, and the afternoon wind is roaring across the roof top. Randy, the videographer, and I walk up to the rim of the building and peer over the edge into a sea of Yellow cabs and pedestrians hundreds of feet below us. Marie's got balls. Big ones. In the figurative sense.
Raised in a small town in the Czech Republic, her grandmother and mother made the trek to the States five years ago in search of new opportunities. And in that short amount of time, the Vietnamese, Czech, and German Ms. Kim seized every capitalistic moment, learning English on a fluent level, earning a scholarship to a college in Manhattan, posing in front of a camera or two dozen, and accidentally picking the modeling surname of a Korean. Hey, not everyone's perfect. At least she has more stones than a pair of Angelinos used to life at lower altitudes. And why would Marie be afraid of heights? A statuesque 5' 10", and living the American Dream, all she's done is kept climbing. A rising star, for now, we'll keep her a few feet lower than she's used to.
Your last name's Kim, the Korean equivalent of "Smith", is that your nationality?
No, actually my Vietnamese name is Kim Anh so I figured I'd combine it with my Czech name, Marie, for modeling. I didn't know that it was the Korean "Smith" till I already started going by it. [laughter]
Vietnamese and Czech, how did that combo come about?
My mum actually moved from Vietnam to the Czech Republic and met my dad. The rest was history.
Where in the Czech Republic are you from?
Usti nad Labem! And I wouldn't trade my experiences growing up there for anything. It made me who I am now.
Marie Kim - Czech Mate

That's a mouthful. Is that some sort of a village?
[laughs] It's a city! The ninth largest. Since you work with models, I should have you know that it's famous for having some of the hottest girls on the planet.
Who are some hot Usti nad Labemians?
There are actually a few but the most famous is Karolina Kurkova, the Victoria's Secret model. Hopefully one day I'll get to work with her!
When did you emigrate from the Czech Republic?
A little over five years ago. My family and I moved to Stony Brook, Long Island in New York.
What was the biggest culture shock?
Hmm . . . probably that people in the U.S. are so religious? Czechs tend to party hard and not really think about the repercussions.
My kind of peeps. And now you're in Manhattan-did you move to the city to pursue modeling?
Actually, I moved to Manhattan to make my grandmother proud and make something of myself. I finished high school in Long Island, and after I graduated, I received a scholarship to attend New York Institute of Technology for architecture.
Architect? Wowsers! So can you design?
Yes! I'm pretty good at it, too. My designs take cues from Italian and modern styles.
So, uh, when it comes to, um, "buildings", do you prefer short and girthy or tall and thin?
Tall and thin. But they have to be interesting. [laughs]
East Coast/West Coast beef: Golden Gate or Brooklyn Bridge?
Brooklyn Bridge, baby. No other bridge in the world looks as gangsta!
Have a favorite New York moment?
The city is so alive at all hours and there are so many great moments, small and large. I can't think of just one.
What about restaurant?
I love sushi, so it would have to be Nobu.
When it comes to men, what do you look for?
All a guy needs to be is funny. If you can make me laugh till my cheeks hurt, you'll win my heart. That, and you have to be non-hairy!
How about a furry dude with access to industrial-grade shavers?
[laughs] No, not even that. His hair will just grow back.
Ok, so what if he was chimp hairy but Chappelle funny and took you to a really nice restaurant?
Still a no. I'm a cheap date. Take me to Taco Bell or KFC and I can still fall in love with you.
In L.A., we have fusion Taco Bell/KFC in one restaurant.
Really? That's hot.
Fire-sauce-drenched-Mexican-Pizza hot. Besides architecture, have any other skills?
I love to swim. I have a lifeguard certification, including CPR and first aid.
So you're like the Czech-Vietnamese Pamela Anderson. Only taller . . . and hotter! David Hasselhoff or Michael Phelps?
Michael Phelps without a doubt. He's the real deal.
And with his herbal proclivity, would be totally down for the KFC/Taco Bell thing. Ever rescue anyone?
I was at school when a classmate fainted in the halls. Everyone freaked out but I was able to help her . . .
Ooh! Did you give her mouth-to-mouth?
Unfortunately, for you, your readers, and my classmates, no. [laughs]
Have you ever given another girl mouth-to-mouth?
Are you asking whether I gave mouth-to-mouth or I got freaky with another girl? Is this a trick question? [laughs]
Take your pick.
Well, it was my girlfriend's birthday a few years back and eight of us girls . . .
Eight girls? I like where this is going. [laughter]
So we went to a club in the city to celebrate, but it got boring after a while so we hopped in a limo and took off to Long Beach [Long Island, NY]. When we got to the beach, we all took off our clothes and started playing in the water.
Butt-ass naked?
No! We still had our bottoms on.
When did the CPR happen?
Afterwards, in the limo, we were all wet and cold . . . let's just say we warmed each other up.
You should type up that story and submit it to Penthouse. You'd totally win a prize. Any other girls you would play tongue twister with?
Adriana Lima. She has the juiciest lips on the planet.
How about a fellow Prestigious Model?
No way! They're like my sisters.
Which would make it even hotter. [laughter] On the subject of PM Models, how did modeling come about?
It was really random. My friend asked me to come to a PM Models casting with her for support but I ended up getting picked.
Have you been to a lot of car shows?
I've modeled at a bunch of HIN events and a bunch of other car shows. I was also at the New Jersey round of Formula D last year.
Are you into tuned cars?
Yes! There's just something about them that's so hot!
What's the first thing that draws your attention?
The sound and the speed! The faster and scarier a guy can drive the more I get turned on!
So when you're not modeling, what do you like to do?
I love hanging out with my close friends. Party or chill, it doesn't matter. I'm pretty easy going and have fun no matter what I'm doing! I spend most time with my puppy, Baby Bear-she's the love of my life! She's a diva and she got it from her mamma! [laughs]
Bess Hsu - The F'in Bess From the September, 2010 issue of Import Tuner By Carter Jung Photography by Carter Jung
Make Up: Tony Rivero Stylist: Mack Pholsina Photo Assistant: Chris Yu Location: Prestigious Models
Bess Hsu Modeling In life, few experiences add more to one's character than traveling. Other than a formal education, military experience, or a really good ass-whooping, going to a place and exploring the sights and sounds of a new environment, people, food, and culture leaves an indelible impression that adds depth to one's essence. Hence the term "worldly".
Despite her girlishly young looks, Bess Hsu is a worldly soul. Having grown up across the globe, she's experienced life in ways most of us could never fathom. From getting booted from grade school in Taiwan for rebelliousness, hitchhiking down under in Australia, getting hit on by Tom from Myspace in Hawaii, and climbing a 12,000-foot mountain in California, to experiencing her first snowfall in New York, Bess has done and seen it all. Us? We just want to see some more of her.
According to your bio, you've grown up all over the world-first Taiwan, Australia, then all across the U.S.-were you a military brat? [Laughs] No, I just love to travel.
How was the transition from Taiwan to Australia? I lived in the sunshine city of Brisbane, Queensland, and when I first moved, I couldn't really speak English so it was an interesting experience.
Any "Crikey!" moments? I was really young so I don't remember a lot of stuff but I do remember getting lost a lot. But I was always like 'Whatever, I'll go on an adventure and find my way home." And I did. I hitchhiked a lot, which I shouldn't have done. Even now, in New York City, I hitchhike.
Hitchhike? In Manhattan? [laughs] Sometimes it's impossible to hail a taxi, so I'll hop in a car instead. I hitchhike the most when I am traveling through small towns, like when I was in Greece and Costa Rica. People always tell me it's not safe, but believe it or not, I meet the greatest people from hitchhiking.
Bess Hsu Modeling I'll take your word for it. Where in the U.S. did you first move? I moved to Honolulu, Oahu when I was 14. I love Hawaii-I loved the weather, I loved being able to go to the beach every day after school, and I loved the people. Everyone was very chill.
Did you pick up any island sports? Before I moved to Hawaii I couldn't even walk in a three-foot pool, but I had to learn how to swim because it would have been such a waste living in Hawaii. My friends taught me how to swim in a pool and I started body boarding, water skiing, snorkeling, and surfing.
Although I suck at it, I love surfing. Are you good? Not at all, but I absolutely love it. My dream is to meet a shark out in the ocean and successfully escape from it. I wouldn't mind losing a leg or an arm; I'd have a good story to tell.
A hitchhiker whose aspirations include losing a limb-interesting. [laughter] When did you move to the Mainland? I moved to Santa Barbara, CA, when I was 16. I wanted to go to college in California, so I figured I could use a college prep boarding school instead of 'vacationing' in Hawaii.
Boarding school? Explains a lot. [laughter] Girls weren't allowed in boys' dorms, so I used to run across the field as fast as I could at 2 a.m., which was when security would go to bed. I would climb up trees and jump in from the window to get to the boys' rooms.
Very Dawson's Creek of you. [laughter] Yes, I was extremely fit back then.
Was it a strict, convent type of institution or was it lax? It was definitely strict, we had a lot of rules and curfews. Not to sound cheesy, but I think it was good for my soul. Everyone was required to go on an 'outdoor education' trip every year and after my second day transferring, we all went on an intense backpacking trip to the high Sierra Mountains with my class.
Sounds like a good time . . . It was traumatizing. [laughter] I didn't shower for 10 days. I had to eat half-cooked rice with bugs in it. I had to climb up a 12,000-foot mountain with a backpack that was half my weight. But again, it was good for my soul.
Nothing builds character like crunchy rice seasoned with insects. [laughter] So it sounds like you made the most of boarding school.
Looking back, they were some of the best times of my life. Our school was small and everyone was there 24-7, so I made some great lifetime friends.
Did you ever get into trouble?
Actually, the most trouble I ever got in school was back in the sixth grade. I used to be a rebellious little girl. I dyed my hair green and I got suspended from school for doing so. My principal yelled: "Don't come back until you've dyed your hair back to black." Taiwanese people can be so close-minded.
Is your rebelliousness what got you into modeling for our scene?
I guess you could say that. I went to my first HIN when was 15 in Hawaii. It was crazy! I met the Myspace guy, Tom. He loves Asian girls.
Is that where you got your 'break' into modeling?
Not really. I was wandering the show and a lot of photographers gave me their cards and asked if I would like to shoot with them sometimes, but I was more focused on learning how to swim in Hawaii, so I didn't pursue modeling then.
Where did you move after Santa Barbara?
I moved to New York City last September to attend NYU.
From boarding school to the Big Apple . . . how do you like the East Coast?
I hated New York at first tremendously. The weather here is disgusting! Well, considering I lived in Taiwan, Queensland, Hawaii, and California I was a bit spoiled with great climates. Before I moved to NYC, I never saw snow. I remember I got scared when the city turned white.
If you had to pick, where would you want to settle down?
California! It is the perfect place for human beings! California's got perfect weather, beautiful beaches, amazing food from all over the world, and everything else you need in life. Growing up there and also having traveled a lot, I'm sure you would agree with me, Carter.
Agreed! So do you still enjoy traveling?
Absolutely.
If I was a travel genie and could grant you a wish, where would you go?
I would want to go to Tel Aviv, Israel, and Beirut, Lebanon. I would have to go to Lebanon first, then Israel. I heard Lebanon won't let you in the country if you have an Israeli stamp on it, but not vice-versa. I am not very familiar with Middle Eastern culture, and would love to learn more about it.
Middle East? Not my first guess, but it's very open minded of you. What about China? I've been meaning to go-any recommendations?
It's great. I used to travel all over China with my dad. Go to Beijing if you are into rich history and culture. Go to Sichuan if you are into beautiful scenery and pandas. Go to Shanghai if you are into being pushed around by smelly people. Yuck!
Shanghai it is! Other than rude and stinky people, what do you look for in a guy?
I like guys with big eyebrows. You know, thick, bushy ones . . . I think it's sexy.
Word? Are you into body hair, too?
[laughter] Sure, why not? Body hair can be sexy, too.
Gag. Shifting away from man-hair, what type of food do you like?
Man-hair to food? Worse. Transition. Ever. [laughter] I love sushi! I can eat sushi for the rest of my life. Olives, truffles, and blue cheese, are also some of my faves.
Ugh! Blue cheese? That makes the top three list of my least favorite things on this planet. How is it you can't stand stinky people but you like cheese that smells like toe jam?
[laughs] Stinky people can take a shower. But blue cheese can't help itself.
Some stinky people can't help themselves, either. It can be hormonal, cultural . . . nevermind. Enough about B.O. Can you cook?
Yes and no. I make a lot of sushi. It's the one thing I know to how to make. I roll sushi for friends and myself all the time! But cooking . . . does cereal count?
If it doesn't involve blue cheese, why not? Have you been to Japan?
Many times! The sushi there is the best. Period. But I don't like Japanese guys.
[laughs] And why is that?
They're too skinny and too feminine. I can't date a guy with pants skinnier than mine. Plus, some of them don't even have any eyebrows!
Which is why you ought to stick with Koreans! [laughter] Have any hidden skills?
I deal poker. I was trained to deal professionally and everything.
Was this for a job or something you enjoyed?
I really like poker, especially Texas Hold 'em. It's an endurance game. It teaches you about human nature. It's exciting watching people go through decisions and dilemmas at the table.
You talked about water activities before, but are there any other sports you play?
I like tennis, ping pong, and badminton.
Ping pong and badminton? Spoken like a true Asian. [laughter]. On the subject of stereotypes, you mentioned something spectacularly rare for an Asian doing the shoot that I would like to reiterate. For the record, what size are your, um, assets?
Assets? Is that what Americans call them? [laughter] For the record, I am a 32D.
And, again, for records-sakes, are they real?
Yes, they are real. I don't know what happened to me. All the girls in my family have small breasts, but my boobs grew like there was no tomorrow.
